Uninstall IPVanish VPN on Windows

Although Windows is a convenient platform, sometimes removing an application can be a hassle. Because if you want to uninstall IPVanish VPN, you have to remove the TAP adapters and the leftover files altogether. But manually removing them can be tricky.   1. Click on the Power/Connect button to disconnect the VPN.

  2. Then, exit the app.
  3. Now you have to ensure no background process is running. Launch the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del.
  4. Then, select IPVanish from the list, if present.
  5. After that, click on End Task. You are now eligible for a safe uninstallation.

Note — IPVanish can run on Windows version 7 and up. However, this example is of the installation process on Windows 10.

Using a third-party uninstaller to remove IPVanish VPN

There are numerous third-party uninstallers available on the internet. You can select the one you like or go with the one we are using in our example. In this removal, we are using Total Uninstaller. You can use it to uninstall IPVanish VPN automatically. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the Total Uninstaller website and download the .exe file.
  2. Then, wait for the download to finish and launch the Download folder.
  3. Now, double-click on the downloaded file, and it will launch the Windows Installation Wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
  4. Launch the uninstaller. On startup, the application will do an Auto-Scan and list all the installed apps on your device.
  5. Now, locate IPVanish VPN from the list.
    • You will notice there is more than one application with the name IPVanish. These are the TAP adapters, and you have to uninstall them too. TAP Adapters are Network drivers that initiate authentication and tunneling for the VPN.
  6. Then, select IPVanish and click on Run Analysis.
  7. The app will scan the device and list any files associated with IPVanish.

  8. Now, click on Uninstall.
  9. If prompted, select Yes.
  10. Now, select those leftover files and delete them.
  11. Repeat the process for the IPVanish TAP Adapters.

Manually uninstalling IPVanish VPN

We understand the need for manual uninstallation as many users feel uncomfortable with a third-party app. For those, we have provided a step-by-step guide to uninstall IPVanish VPN manually.

  1. Go to the Start menu.
    • Either press the Windows key on the keyboard or click on the Start icon.
  2. Now, click on Setting.
  3. On the new window, locate Apps and click it.

  5. Then select Uninstall App.

  2. Now go to the Windows Registry and use the Find in-page feature.

  3. Enter the keyword “IPVanish” in the box and manually select and delete the files.

Remove IPVanish VPN from Mac devices

Mac is similarly an influential and popular platform. Luckily, uninstallations can be pretty smooth on this platform. Despite that, you are free to use a third-party uninstaller, if you so wish. You can get one on the Apple Mac Store. But before you proceed with IPVanish VPN removal, you have to ensure a safe disconnection and termination of the VPN. You can do so by following the process below:

  1. Launch the Force Quit Utility on your Mac device.
