VeePN is a Panamanian provider that promises impeccable security, privacy, and performance across the thousands of servers that it offers. VeePN is a relatively “young” service. This means it hasn’t spent too much time around the big boys, so it needs to “hone” some of their skills to be competitive. But is it truly like that? Is VeePN a good service even though it’s far from being prominent? Well, today’s VeePN test will tell you exactly that. We’re going to put this service through a series of tests, ranging from speeds and performance to app support, streaming, privacy, security, and much more. In addition, we’ll also talk about its pricing.
Overview of VeePN
VeePN, a VPN provider based in Panama, may not be widely known. Despite its size, it has an expansive network of servers. The speeds it offers aren’t particularly impressive, though they are far from the worst.
VeePN supports numerous platforms and offers interesting features like multihop, which allows you to connect through a chain of VPN servers, and ad blocking. It also works with some streaming sites, but not all.

Features of VeePN
Security
Extensive tests on over 15 locations proved its exceptional security. It achieves this through the utilization of AES-256-bit encryption, the same advanced technology employed by militaries and banks worldwide. In terms of crackability, it is nearly impossible.
You can set up a VPN for PC and Android with split tunneling. In other words, VeePN allows you to select which traffic uses the VPN’s tunnel and which traffic goes through your normal connection. A good option if you have sites that need direct access.
Furthermore, VeePN offers efficient blocking of ads, malicious websites, and online tracking, one of its most impressive features referred to as NetGuard. It successfully blocks pop-ups, banner ads, and more. What sets VeePN apart is its ability to even skip YouTube ads after a few seconds. Undoubtedly, it is one of the best VPNs when it comes to ad blockers.
Speed
VeePN’s speeds remain consistent. Despite a few slower servers, most performed exceptionally well even over long distances. It’s important to note that all speeds were measured from the same location with the same connection, ensuring accurate comparisons. We conducted at least 10 tests on each server.
A chart showcasing VeePN’s speeds across global servers reveals a mere 20% loss on nearby servers and a 30% decrease on distant ones. Notably, all these tests were conducted using the WireGuard protocol, known for its fast speeds. Even on faraway servers, VeePN demonstrated impressive performance, with the slowest server resulting in a 56% drop in download rates. While it may seem substantial, other VPNs often exhibit 80% or greater loss at similar distances.
Despite its effectiveness, the free trial VPN for browsers does experience some slowdown. On average, VeePN speeds dropped by 30% on nearby servers and 50% on distant servers when using the extension. For a free extension, this is a good indicator.
Cross-platform
VeePN supports a wide range of operating systems, surpassing others in the market. These include Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Amazon FireTV, and Amazon Kindle Fire. Moreover, VeePN offers Chrome and Firefox browser extensions, although I fail to understand the purpose behind them. These extensions only tunnel browser traffic, whereas a VPN tunnels all device traffic. Nevertheless, the Chrome extension can prove useful for Chromebook users, or for those who wish to send only browser traffic through the VPN.
On to the app itself, it boasts a well-designed interface that is both visually appealing and user-friendly. Even those with minimal VPN experience will find it easy to navigate and feel comfortable using it.
In terms of VeePN for macOS, the app offers a convenient left-side menu for accessing different sections. By clicking on the Locations menu, users can select the desired VPN server to connect to.
Log storage policy
VeePN’s privacy policy is refreshingly clear and easy to understand. It only retains the information you provide during signup and some minor diagnostic data. To ensure smooth functionality, it keeps records of your device, signup time, and feature usage. However, none of this data is linked to your personal information, and nearly all VPNs store some anonymized data.
VeePN does not store your IP address or the websites you visit. Additionally, the VPN does not log timestamps or bandwidth usage, unlike most other VPNs.
Streaming
VPNs are widely used for entertainment purposes, such as streaming and unblocking blocked websites. Streaming is the most popular use case for a VPN, so we were curious to see how well VeePN performs in this regard.
Since this is a lesser-known provider that doesn’t directly compete with the industry leaders, our expectations weren’t very high. However, after testing VeePN, we discovered that it performs quite well. For instance, it works effectively with many popular US-based streaming services.
Surprisingly, it even successfully unblocks libraries from various major platforms, including those from the US, the UK, and Canada.
During our tests, we found that VeePN demonstrates strong unblocking capabilities when it comes to foreign TV channels. US TV channels functioned flawlessly in our country, and we encountered no difficulties accessing numerous channels from different countries using this provider.
Despite not offering dedicated streaming servers, this isn’t an issue at all. By simply setting the protocol selection to Automatic, and connecting to the appropriate server, you can enjoy seamless streaming. As for streaming quality, VeePN doesn’t exceed any benchmarks or records.
Double VPN
You’ll find Double VPN in the app, right above the server list. When you click on it, you’ll see various locations. With Double VPN, your traffic will pass through two servers, providing an extra layer of encryption.
The server pairs are already set, such as Canada & New Jersey, Germany & Poland, Australia & California, and more. While Double VPN servers performed well in our VeePN test, it’s worth noting that they can slightly reduce performance.
Especially when using distant server combinations, you may experience 20-30% slower speeds compared to regular connections.
Pricing
VeePN is considered to be a fairly inexpensive VPN option. Currently, they offer three subscription plans, with durations ranging from 1 month to 5 years. Let’s take a closer look at the pricing details:
- 1-month plan: $10.99 per month
- 1-year plan: $5.83 per month
- 5-year plan: $1.67 per month
If you’re looking for a VPN provider for an extended period, VeePN is one of the few options available. A 5-year subscription for around $100 is a pretty good deal.

Verdict
VeePN offers a reliable VPN service that excels in various aspects, making it difficult to label it as subpar or dissatisfying. Our thorough review and testing of VeePN revealed numerous positive experiences, particularly in terms of streaming capabilities. The provider boasts over 2,500 servers, supports 10 simultaneous connections, and implements a notable range of security features. Additionally, VeePN follows a strict no-logging policy, validated by an audit from Cure53.
While VeePN is an excellent choice overall, certain compromises need to be acknowledged. This provider is not optimal for torrenting, does not function in China, and its performance falls short of top-tier VPNs. Although VeePN has yet to reach the same level as these providers, it unquestionably provides good value for the price.
