There may be some hurdles, especially the free one, that you may need to contact Customer Service for. Luckily, those are relatively rare, and we’ll show you how to proceed. Now, let’s dig into how to renew Hide.me VPN.
1. Renew the Hide.me VPN subscription via the Windows or Mac application
We understand that a lot of people use the Hide.me VPN desktop and laptop applications for Windows, Mac, and Linux to get a free VPN service. Unless you uninstalled Hide.me VPN in the past, you can utilize it to renew your free service or upgrade to a paid plan. Note that this procedure isn’t viable on Linux since only a CLI (command-line interface) version exists. With that acknowledged, renewal of the Hide.me VPN subscription or a free plan via a Mac or Windows application works like this:
- Open the Hide.me VPN client for Windows or Mac.
- Sign in with the old user account.
- As soon as you see the loading message with the location in the bottom right corner. You now have two options:
- Upgrade — This option will usually open the website and ask you to sign in if you are not logged in. You will then see the page we explain in the method below.
- Renew free — This option opens a new window in the interface we will explain next.
- After clicking Renew free, you’ll be notified that your account has expired.
- Click the Renew Free Plan and you will have to wait 180 seconds or a minute and a half. The software will check whether your account can get the free user plan and grant it.
- If you don’t feel like waiting, you can press the Share or Tweet buttons to share Hide.me on your social media profile. You will immediately get a free subscription.
Note. Although you cannot renew a plan on mobile, if it doesn’t become active on mobile, you may have to open the Hide.me VPN app → Go to Settings → Select Restore Purchase to sync user plan details with your account.
2. Use the official website for renewing Hide.me subscription
Hide.me primarily sells plans, generates accounts, and processes payments through its website. Thus, it makes sense that they would let users restart or extend their free or paid plans there, too. With that said, follow these steps to renew your paid or free Hide.me subscription:
- Visit the

website and click the three horizontal lines in the top right corner then select My Account. - Note. You can also go to the Hide.me Member Area directly.
- Enter your username and password and solve the captcha.
- Click on Log me in, and you’ll be taken to the main page. If you are not, click the Dashboard button under “Member Settings”.
- You will now have two options again:
- Upgrade — It lets you upgrade from a free to a paid plan. You can choose between several Premium service plans: monthly, 6 months, or 1 year (plus a frequent bonus of several months).
- Extend free plan — You will see the notification about the expiry date above. Clicking the aforementioned button lets you choose one of the two options explained in method 1.
3. Contact Hide.me Customer Support
Hide.me suggests contacting their Customer Care team for any user account, payment, or technical problems. If you’re experiencing any, such as a forgotten password or email address for an old account or a deactivated account, this is an ideal option. Furthermore, users frequently suggest reaching out to mention you’re a returning user. You will receive renewal instructions and explanations of things they improved.
